Rebel RSF and Allies Seize Parts of Geisan in Sudan's Blue Nile State; Army Holds Firm
Sudanese army forces have held onto their primary military base in the town amid ongoing heavy clashes, local media reported.
Key details:
🟠Supported by SPLM‑N fighters, the RSF launched an early morning assault using heavy artillery and drones, with fighting concentrated around the army's 13th Infantry Brigade headquarters.
🟠Local sources reported looting and vandalism in the main market after pro‑RSF platforms circulated footage of their fighters inside the town.
🟠The army intensified drone strikes, forcing the rebels to retreat from several newly captured positions.
🟠The fighting has displaced approximately 2,500 people, according to the International Organization for Migration.
The assault comes after the Sudanese army's recent gains in Kordofan and Darfur, including the liberation of Umm Sayala, Jabra al‑Sheikh, and a strategic export road linking Khartoum to North Kordofan.
