'There Can Be No Human Rights Without Women's Rights': SA's President
"There can be no progress in society without the empowerment of women," said Cyril Ramaphosa in his speech during celebration of the National Women's Day.
This year's commemoration specifically emphasizes quality healthcare for women "regardless of the income," according to the president.
The focus should be given to:
🟠pregnancy and childbirth;
🟠dignified reproductive services;
🟠access to family planning;
🟠infection prevention and expanding vaccination;
🟠ensuring cancer detection;
🟠treatment of survivors of domestic and sexual violence with privacy and respect;
🟠bringing care to women in rural areas.
"By investing in women’s health, we invest in the health, productivity and future of our nation."
The president also highlighted the need "to harness all the resources and capabilities of the state to end" gender-based violence and femicide.
"We cannot achieve social justice without gender equality," he added.
