Tanzania Unveils $231M Plan to Boost Dairy Sector & Climate Resilience: Media
A 10‑year project is expected to benefit more than 700,000 livestock keepers, said Stephen Michael, director of production and marketing development at the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, at an international agricultural exhibition.
"We aim to raise productivity and generate surplus milk for export," he added, as cited by the local media.
Key objectives of the project:
🟠Increase milk production and position Tanzania as a net exporter of dairy products.
🟠Improve market access, reduce costs, and minimize post‑harvest losses for dairy farmers and processors.
🟠Promote improved cattle breeds, better access to water and pasture, and enhanced disease control.
ℹ Tanzania currently produces 4 billion liters of milk annually against a demand of 13 billion liters, highlighting the need for continued investment in productivity and value chain development.
