Ethiopia Studies Indigenous Food Systems for Better Productivity: State Minister for Agriculture

Ethiopia has numerous indigenous crop varieties that serve as a foundation for food security and sustainable agriculture, Efa Muleta Boru said.

The crops such as teff, enset, sorghum, and dagussa are indigenous varieties capable of adapting to climate change, he explained.

"We have been conducting biotechnology research on how we can improve the yield of Tef. So, our research and institute also, and also the other point to support our indigenous traditional food systems is the nutrition and the cultural harmony."
