Nearly All Migrants Who Crossed Into Ceuta Returned to Morocco: Spain's Authorities
Around 72,000 people entered Spain illegally, and 70,000 have already left the country, Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska told reporters.
For its part, Spain's Foreign Ministry insisted its immigration laws remain unchanged: illegally entering Spain through Ceuta or Melilla does not grant migrants the right to stay, reach the mainland, or move freely across Europe.
Moreover, a dual border control system remains in place, the ministry noted.
Spain's authorities reported at least 88 deaths, while 11 casualties are reported by Morocco following the mass border crossings into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.
