Sudan's Security Council Announces New Measures to Combat Organized Crime Amid Military Gains
The Council, chaired by army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, praised recent battlefield successes and reviewed broader security challenges.
Key outcomes of the meeting:
🟠The Council decided to form special courts to handle cases related to drug trafficking, human trafficking, weapons smuggling, and gold smuggling.
🟠It also issued a ban on the presence of regular and supporting forces' personnel in mining areas, ordering the confiscation of weapons and military vehicles found in violation.
The army has secured full control of a strategic export road linking Khartoum to North Kordofan, with al-Burhan visiting frontline troops in the recently liberated areas as part of ongoing operations against RSF rebels.
The Council reaffirmed the state's commitment to protecting national security, strengthening the rule of law, and confronting all security threats.
