Egypt’s Cairo Shaken by 5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Overnight

The earthquake struck around 3:00 am local time.

According to Egypt’s National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research, the epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers, approximately 40 km from the city of Suez and 120 km east of Cairo.

The tremors were widespread, with residents in Alexandria—over 200 km northwest of the capital—also reporting feeling the quake.

No casualties or major structural damage have been reported.
