A new fertiliser plant in Dowa is set to begin operations after receiving approval from the Malawi Environmental Protection Authority, following parliamentary intervention over supply fears linked to the Iran conflict, local media reported, citing Napoleon Dzombe, founder of Mtalimanja Holdings Ltd.

🟠Capacity: The facility will produce 40 tonnes per hour, sufficient to meet national demand in roughly 150 days of continuous operation.
🟠Progress: Equipment is installed and roofing is nearly complete. The company plans to eventually shift to local production of raw materials like zinc, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
🟠Outlook: Experts note the plant’s market impact will not be felt until next year due to the timing of the upcoming rainy season.
