Power of Marketing: How Infant Formula Industry Still Influences African Mothers
According to an Accra audit of 100 complementary baby foods:
🟠Only 5% mentioned the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for six months;
🟠Just 7% carried warnings about improper preparation hazards.
While 34 African countries have adopted some legal measures on formula marketing, only 12 cover the full range of milk products marketed for children through at least 36 months, and only six prohibit health claims, according to a 2022 WHO report.
