Kenya's Foreign Exchange Reserves Hit Record $15.4 Billion: Central Bank
The surge is driven by capital inflows from the government's partial divestiture of the country's leading telecommunications company Safaricom, according to the bank's financial markets update on Friday.
The reserves now cover 6.4 months of imports—up from 5.9 months the previous week—exceeding the statutory requirement of at least four month, the update said.
ℹ Kenya's dollar reserves have stayed above $12 billion since January 2026, supporting the shilling's stability against major currencies.
