African Media Must Work to Build New Narrative for Africa: History Professor

Africa's global image should be built on values and social justice, with the media playing a key role in promoting Ubuntu, a philosophy rooted in humanity, Associate Professor of History and Pan-African Studies at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania Gnaka Lagoke told Sputnik Africa on the sidelines of the World Public Summit.

"And, of course, there are many good things that are happening in Africa. Just one example: the Renaissance Dam in Ethiopia. It is a beautiful story, and Africans have to flip the script from the negative aspect that we see in the media to the narration about stories of an Africa that is thriving," she said.
