Cyanide Poisoning May Have Caused Deaths of 15 Elephants in Kenya: Media
Preliminary analyses of the carcasses revealed traces of cyanide-based pesticides from nearby tomato farms, leading Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Director General Erastus Kanga to confirm that agricultural chemicals were the likely cause of the deaths, according to local media.
The animals were reportedly found dead over the past month in the Amboseli National Park ecosystem, about 15–30 km from the park.
