Minister of Transport Ousmane Gaoual Diallo launched the initiative, with an initial 300 taxis already available and set to be gradually put into service across municipalities in the Conakry region.
Part of a broader plan: The upgrade falls under the Simandou 2040 program, which aims to accelerate development through modernized transport infrastructure and improved urban and intercity mobility.
Diallo stressed the importance of public-private partnerships in developing the transport sector, particularly through expanding ride-hailing services to diversify urban mobility options.
Long-term expansion: The government plans to extend the initiative to other regions, positioning the transport sector as a key driver of national development.
Diallo also announced that new buses will be introduced on intercity routes in the near future.
