Sudanese Army Secures Full Control of Strategic Omdurman-El Obeid Export Road
Residents in El‑Obeid celebrated on Sunday evening as troops from Khartoum linked up with blockaded army forces in North Kordofan following victories over the rebel RSF group, marking a significant breakthrough in securing vital supply lines to the region.
Key developments:
🟠The army announced the liberation of Umm Qarfa and Juraikh areas, consolidating control over the 350‑km export corridor.
🟠"With this victory, your forces have fully secured the Omdurman‑El Obeid export road," the military's official spokesperson said in a statement.
🟠The advances come a day after the army liberated the towns of Bara, Jabrat Sheikh, and Umm Sayala following heavy clashes.
"These successive victories confirm that your armed forces are steadily advancing in the battle of dignity until the country is cleansed of the rebel militia and its allies," the statement added.
