South Sudan's Boma-Badingilo Migratory Landscape Inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List for the First Time
The Boma-Badingilo migratory landscape has been added to UNESCO's World Heritage List, according to an official statement.
The site includes:
▪Boma National Park;
▪Badingilo National Park;
▪the surrounding floodplains and savannas of South Sudan.
According to UNESCO, these interconnected ecosystems support one of the world's largest terrestrial mammal migrations, with around six million white-eared waterbucks, tiang antelopes and Mongalla gazelles migrating across the vast landscape.
The region is also an exceptional cultural and linguistic hub, home to the Murle, Dinka, Nuer, Anyuak and Toposa peoples, UNESCO noted.
