Senior ISWAP* Finance Operative Surrenders to Nigerian Troops as Defections Surge
The surrender of a key finance operative from the Daesh-affiliated* Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) marks a significant setback for the terrorist group's command structure and sustainment network, the Nigerian army said.
Key details:
🟠The operative surrendered on Saturday along the Gamboru–Wulgo main supply route, bringing an AK‑47, ammunition, a motorcycle, and some cash.
🟠He served as chief finance manager for an ISWAP enclave at Jubillaram.
🟠His surrender follows a series of recent coordinated land and air offensives by Operation Hadin Kai.
🟠The development comes amid a growing wave of defections, with about 46 terrorists and family members surrendering in recent days.
"The surrender of such a key finance operative [...] reflecting the growing erosion of the group’s command structure, operational capability, and sustainment network," the army called on remaining fighters to lay down arms.
