Iran and Oman Hold Talks to Resolve Strait of Hormuz Situation

Deputy foreign ministers of the two countries met in Tehran on Friday and Saturday to discuss mechanisms for managing the strategic maritime route, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced.

"The talks were useful," the ministry's spokesperson, Ismail Bagai, said in a statement.

On July 8, US President Trump declared that the June 18 ceasefire was no longer in effect. In the following days, US forces struck Iran, claiming that commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz were being attacked.
