Iran Summons Ukrainian Diplomat Over Caspian Sea Ship Attack
The country's foreign ministry has summoned Ukraine's chargé d'affaires to protest what it called a "hostile and criminal act" following the attack on an Iranian merchant vessel in the Caspian Sea, Iranian state TV reported.
"The attack carried out by the Ukrainian regime against an Iranian merchant ship in the Caspian Sea, explicitly claimed by the head of that regime, demonstrates the persistence of the irrational and hostile attitude of the Ukrainian regime" toward Iran, the ministry said.
FM Abbas Araghchi also discussed the incident with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, calling for a "resolute response" from the EU and the UN Security Council, according to Irna.
