"We worked tirelessly and still do today in all international forums, especially in the UN, to put an end to the barbaric practice of dividing and disseminating the peoples by the color of their skin," Roman Ambarov, ambassador to South Africa and Lesotho, said at the opening of the exhibition in Pretoria.
The struggle against apartheid was supported by the Soviet people, but the victory was won by the dedication of African and Cuban fighters, who now must be honored as heroes, he emphasized.
"As our President Putin has said on many occasions, preserving historical memories more than just attributed to the sacrifices of our peoples, it is a guarantee of our sovereignty and independence."
