Exhibition on Soviet and Russian Support for African Liberation Opens on Thursday in Pretoria

The project exploring ties between Africa, the Soviet Union and modern Russia opened at Unisa’s Muckleneuk Campus.

Through photographs, archives and historical documents, ‘Solidarity in Struggle Against Colonialism and Apartheid’ shows how the USSR supported African liberation movements through military training, education, diplomacy and cultural exchange, with a special focus on Southern Africa.

The exhibition is organized by Unisa, the Russian Embassy and the Russian State University for the Humanities.
