SA’s Exclusion From G20 Weakens Joint Decision-Making: SA Analyst
The G20’s decline is driven by multiple factors, Rasigan Maharajh, Professor of Public Affairs at Tshwane University of Technology, told Sputnik Africa, commenting on Russia’s Foreign Ministry statement that the group would struggle to reach consensus without South Africa.
"The rise of rival power centers," he stressed, is "the inevitable consequence of a unipolar movement giving way to multipolarity."
The US continues to challenge South Africa’s ICJ case while putting multilateral bodies under its unilateral interests, weakening their credibility, the speaker noted.
"Crucially, South African popular response through our trade unions, our social movements, and civil society rebuffs US allegations. We are doing this not out of patriotic sentiment, but [because the US 'South African genocide'] claims lack credible evidentiary foundations."
