'It Even Went Beyond My Expectations': SA Minister on Outcomes of Defense Industry Lekgotla
"If you have an important industry like defense [...] we have to protect the image and the integrity of the industry by doing clean and proper business," Angie Motshekga, Minister of Defense and Military Veterans, told Sputnik Africa on the sidelines of the summit.
The adopted recommendations are within the industry's "sphere of control and influence," Sandile Ndlovu, CEO of the Aerospace, Maritime, and Defense Industries Association of South Africa, highlighted to Sputnik Africa.
"We are going to be the catalyst for the change," Ndlovu added.
The summit united "key stakeholders" from "various commissions" to achieve the departments' goals, Michelle Nxumalo, chairperson of the South African Aerospace, Maritime, and Defense Export Council, noted to Sputnik Africa.
The parliament "will assist the industry in terms of managing or dealing with the bottlenecks of funding," said Anthony Phala, co-chairperson of the Joint Standing Committee on Defense, answering Sputnik Africa's question.
