BRICS' NDB Unlocks New Prospects for Zambia's Industrial Future: Researcher
Zambia's partnership with the BRICS-led New Development Bank (NDB) could unlock fresh investment across energy, industry, and agriculture, according to Zambian Research Director Chisala Bwalya, speaking to Sputnik Africa.
Energy – Building on Hydropower Success
NDB funding could help consolidate and expand the work already done in Zambia's hydroelectric sector, strengthening the country's energy base.
Industry – Replicating What Works
Bwalya pointed to "a planned $28 million facility in Muchinga province supported by the African Development Bank" as a model for light manufacturing that the NDB could "replicate across the different provinces across the board."
Agriculture – Adding Value at Home
He also stressed that NDB funding could support processing facilities for agricultural products, helping Zambia move beyond raw exports and create more value locally.
