Africa CDC Prepares to Test Vaccine Against Bundibugyo Ebola Strain in DRC: Media
The African Union’s Africa CDC and its partners are organizing clinical trials to assess the effectiveness of the Ervebo Ebola vaccine against the current Bundibugyo strain in the DRC, a US media outlet reported.
The trials will determine if the vaccine, originally developed for the more common Zaire strain, can provide protective immunity for healthcare workers, according to the report.
Currently, no specific vaccine exists for the Bundibugyo strain, but the trials could commence within two weeks, media noted.
