IGAD Launches Women's Peace and Resilience Project in Somalia
The initiative brings together government institutions, women’s peace committees, civil society groups, community leaders, and development partners.
"Investing in women is not simply a matter of equity; it is a strategic investment in Somalia’s peace, stability, and sustainable development," IGAD Head of Mission to Somalia Mohamud Abdi Ahmed said.
Supported by the African Development Bank Group through the Transition Support Facility, BWERSP aims to:
strengthen women’s economic resilience, leadership, and meaningful engagement in peacebuilding efforts;
support women-led peace structures;
expand opportunities for women to contribute to Somalia’s stability, recovery, and sustainable development.
