Once imported as government vehicles in the 1970s, the iconic blue-and-white Soviet-manufactured Lada taxis became the durable symbol of Addis Ababa for nearly four decades.

Today, however, the rapid shift toward modern meter taxis and new electric vehicle policies is finally pushing these legendary cars into retirement.
