South Africa Deploys Targeted Mechanisms to Upscale Local Defense Industry: Minister
The country is implementing specific interventions to integrate local manufacturers into the global defense market, Parks Tau, Minister of Trade and Industry, said, answering Sputnik Africa's question on the sidelines of the Defense Industry Lekgotla.
Key measures to boost defense exports include:
🟠Value Chain Integration: Mandating foreign investors to involve local industries in domestic supply chains.
🟠Specialized Insurance: The Export Credit Insurance Corporation created dedicated facilities to underwrite defense projects.
🟠Targeted Funding: The Industrial Development Corporation established a specific fund to scale domestic defense manufacturing.
