Uganda's PM Launches Emergency Food Relief Operation for Drought-Hit Karamoja Region: Government

According to the PM's office, the relief package

includes 9,419 tonnes of maize flour and dry beans;

targets nearly 314,000 households

spreads across 480 parishes in nine districts

The operation was coordinated by national leadership, security forces, and local governments to ensure efficient and transparent distribution of the relief.

The government reiterated its dedication to long-term solutions for recurrent drought, notably through the recently approved Karamoja Regional Development Plan.

ℹKaramoja in northeastern Uganda is facing a severe drought-driven crisis, with widespread crop failure, acute food shortages, and confirmed deaths, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
