Incumbent President of São Tomé & Príncipe Reelected for Second Term: Provisional Results
President Carlos Vila Nova is poised to renew his mandate for another five years, with preliminary results showing him securing 55.94% of the vote, reports said, citing provisional results by the national electoral commission.
His main opponent in the election, Nito d’Abreu, received 41.42% of the vote, while the other two candidates—Eugénio Tiny and Miques João—secured only 1.97% and 1.58% of the ballots, media noted.
Over 142,000 citizens were expected to cast their ballot at the polling stations on Sunday, but the elections were marked by reduced voter mobilization, according to the electoral commission.
