Forex Shortages, Debt Burden & Global Market Price Volatility Continue to Challenge Economy: Ethiopian Economics Association
The association held its 23rd annual conference under the theme “The New Global Reality: Rethinking Development, Resilience, and Economic Transformation,” a Sputnik Africa correspondent reported.
Economic reforms have produced tangible results, the association’s president Tassew Woldehanna said, noting that the economy remains vulnerable to high inflation, internal conflicts and external pressures.
"The country’s inflation rate, which had previously declined to around 9%, rising again to 13.4% in May shows the seriousness of the challenge," he said.
The only real measure of economic growth is whether it improves livelihoods through job creation, income growth, and better social services, Tassew emphasized .
