Nigeria Sets $2.61Bln Initiative to Boost Tailoring Sector & Artisan Development
The Industrial Training Fund’s Skill Up Artisans Programme is intended to tackle the dominance of foreign producers in Nigeria’s informal economy, Director-General and Chief Executive of the Industrial Training Fund Afiz Ogun was quoted as saying.
“For this year, we are incubating businesses for tailors because they constitute a large number of participants."
The screening exercise will assess participants’ skills and readiness for training, with about 200,000 artisans expected to benefit nationwide, he added.
“The President wants Nigerian artisans to be trained, certified and licensed."
According to Ogun, the beneficiaries will receive:
🟠long-term mentoring;
🟠technical assistance to help sustain their businesses;
🟠entrepreneurship support.
