Ethiopia to Expand Avocado Exports Amid Global Supply Shortages: Agriculture Ministry
The country is working to strengthen its competitiveness, particularly in European and Middle Eastern markets, the ministry announced.

Ethiopia’s annual avocado export trade has recorded 36.3% growth, and the plan aims to increase foreign currency earnings from the country’s expanding horticultural production sector.
Ethiopia, Africa’s second-largest avocado producer, sells its produce at a 15% to 25% lower price compared with Kenya due to gaps in international quality certification and infrastructure, local media reported, citing the ministry.
