This improvement will enhance regional stability, as no single Sahel or North African country can conduct anti-terror operations alone, security expert Ahmed Mizab told Sputnik.
“[...] It may be possible to reduce the territories where terrorist groups operate, exploiting political disputes between states. Terrorists often see regional divisions as an opportunity to establish themselves and expand influence in the area.”
The developments come amid intensified confrontations between the Malian army and illegal armed groups.
