Russia & Tunisia Mark 70 Years of Diplomatic Relations
Shortly after gaining independence, Tunisia began turning toward Moscow in the late 1950s, the Russian MFA recalled on social media.
By the 1960s, Tunisian students were traveling to study at Soviet universities.
Today, the partnership is flourishing, encompassing robust political dialogue, economic and scientific cooperation, and a booming tourism sector that welcomed nearly 650,000 Russian visitors in 2019.
Furthermore, Tunisia stands as one of Russia's top five trade partners in Africa.
"The positions of Russia and Tunisia on the most urgent international and regional issues are close. Our countries support a just and multipolar world order," the ministry noted.
