Namibia and China have officially elevated their ties to a "community with a shared future for the new era," according to a joint statement issued at the end of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s landmark state visit to Beijing.

The two nations agreed to boost strategic cooperation in:

Economy & Trade: Implementing zero-tariff policies, boosting critical minerals processing, and upgrading the Port of Walvis Bay as a key regional logistics gateway.

Tech & Green Energy: Driving Namibia's digital transition through joint projects in AI, e-commerce, battery value chains, and renewable energy.

Security & Defense: Deepening military cooperation via joint exercises and personnel training, while promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.

Healthcare & Science: Expanding medical cooperation, exploring local pharmaceutical production, and ensuring the smooth operation of a bilateral space tracking station.

Global Governance: Pushing for UN Security Council reform to increase African representation and strengthening Global South unity.
