South African Football in Mourning as World Cup Star Jayden Adams Dies at 25
Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundown's midfielder Jayden Adams passed away just weeks after representing his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

🟠Adams featured in all three group-stage matches for South Africa in North America, playing a key role in their historic run to the Round of 32.
🟠The cause of death has not been disclosed. Police have opened an investigation after his body was found at a house in Cape Town on Saturday.
🟠Adams joined Sundowns from Stellenbosch FC in 2025, where he won the Betway Premiership and CAF Champions League. He also helped Bafana claim bronze at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
🟠His death comes less than a month after he lost his grandmother on the eve of South Africa's group match against Czechia.
"It is with profound shock and a heavy heart that I have learnt of the passing of Jayden Adams," Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie stated. "South African football has lost one of its brightest young talents."
The South African Football Players' Union also paid tribute, describing Adams as a "gifted player, a proud servant of the game, and a young life that still had so much to offer."
