East African Federation Only Way to Guarantee Continental Security: Ugandan President
Yoweri Museveni has renewed his call for Africa’s economic and political integration, warning that fragmented states cannot ensure long-term security.
Addressing graduates of a military college in southeastern Uganda, Museveni outlined the key pillars of sustainable security:
🟠Eradicating poverty by integrating citizens into the commercial economy (agriculture, manufacturing, and ICT);
🟠Advancing literacy, numeracy, and skills training to drive growth;
🟠Forming an East African Federation to secure ocean access, a navy, and a robust air force—capabilities that Uganda cannot build on its own.
Citing the US, China, Russia, and India, Museveni noted that only large, integrated countries can successfully develop advanced strategic and space capabilities.
