Niger Led AES Economic Growth in 2025, Report Shows
The economies of the three AES member states expanded by a combined 5.5% in 2025, according to the latest annual report by the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development.
Niger
Niger's economy grew by 6.9% in 2025, making it the third-fastest growing economy among the 15 West African countries.
Although growth slowed from 10.3% in 2024, the report describes the country's performance as "slower, but solid."
Growth was driven by:
🟠increased production;
🟠crude oil exports;
🟠the resilience of the agricultural sector.
Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso's GDP expanded by 5.0% in 2025, up slightly from 4.8% in 2024.
The stronger performance was supported by:
🟠continued expansion of the services sector;
🟠resilient agricultural production, aided by favorable rainfall and government support programs;
🟠a rebound in mining activity amid higher gold prices.
Mali
Mali's economy grew by 4.9% in 2025, a slight slowdown from 5.0% in 2024.
Growth was supported by:
🟠strong agricultural production;
🟠continued expansion of the services sector.
