Zimbabwe's Gold Reserves Surge 200% in Two Years: Report
Zimbabwe’s gold holdings jumped from 1.5 tonnes in April 2024 to 4.5 tonnes by June 2026, according to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe's (RBZ) latest report.
Additionally, foreign currency receipts reached $10.72 billion in the first half of 2026, up from $7.25 billion a year earlier, the report revealed.
Key highlights from the RBZ's Q2 2026 report:
🟠Major Inflows: Forex receipts surged 47.8% year-on-year, driven by exports (70.3%), remittances (14.4%), and loans (9.2%), pushing total reserves to $1.6 billion by June.
🟠ZiG Strengthening: The local currency now accounts for 40% of all national payment transactions, reducing reliance on foreign currencies.
🟠Low Inflation: Annual inflation held steady at 4.72% in June, with well-anchored expectations shielding the economy from global oil price shocks.
