Russia Became 'Tangible Guarantor of Food Security for Millions of Africans,' Chadian Expert Says

Russia's image in Africa has seen "positive developments" in recent years, as "Russia keeps its promises predictably and without political blackmail," economist Nguetobaye Massengar Rongar told Sputnik Africa.

"When Russia's wheat continues to arrive, even during periods of fluctuating global prices, it has a direct impact on the price of bread in Bamako or Algeria."

A major strategic step forward in Russia-Africa trade is "settlements in national currencies," he added.

Key benefits of these systems include:

reducing dependence on the dollar-based system;

protecting partners from external financial pressures.

"Russia is demonstrating a genuine willingness to adapt financial mechanisms to the needs of its partners from Africa."
