Iran-US Memorandum Sets Stage for Tough Nuclear Talks: Russian Security Council Deputy Head
Negotiations are always better than their absence, but the path to a final agreement will be "extremely difficult," Dmitry Medvedev said during a visit to Tehran, where he also conveyed President Putin's condolences at Ayatollah Khamenei's funeral.
Key points from Medvedev's address:
🟠Negotiations matter, but many in the US do not favor lifting sanctions on Iran, he warned.
🟠The Strait of Hormuz has become "a weapon no less powerful than nuclear weapons" for Iran, while the Bab el‑Mandeb Strait serves as "thermonuclear weapon" in reserve.
🟠Russia, Iran, China, and others could discuss creating a platform for states under sanctions.
🟠Moscow has put forward proposals that could peacefully resolve the Iranian nuclear issue.
