Kenya's Forex Reserves Hit All-Time High of $14 Billion
The country's foreign exchange reserves rose by $874 million this week to a record $14 billion, driven by $750 million in World Bank funding for accountability and social protection, the Central Bank of Kenya announced.
Key details
🟠 Reserves now provide six months of import cover, up from 5.6 months a week earlier—well above the statutory minimum of four months.
🟠 Since the start of the year, Kenya has consistently kept reserves above $12 billion, helping support the shilling.
🟠 The latest increase is expected to provide further support in the coming weeks, the central bank added.
