AES Makes Concrete Progress in Security, But Borders Porosity Must Be Addressed: Nigerien Expert
The AES states reached an important milestone last year with the establishment of the AES passport and the AES identity card, political analyst Ibrahim Namewa told Sputnik Africa.
These documents now facilitate movement within the confederal space, he noted, commenting on the AES security ministers' meeting convened by President Traoré on Wednesday to enhance security cooperation and improve road control mechanisms.
However, the porosity of these countries' borders is another challenge, according to Namewa.
"This porosity of our borders requires that within the confederal space, we take a number of measures to counteract infiltrations and effectively address threats that may arise from that side," the speaker emphasized.
