Turkey to Build $350 Million Space Launch Base on Somalia’s Coast: Reports
The facility could enable satellite launches and potentially serve as a ballistic missile testing site, according to reports.

Timeline: Construction began in late 2025, following its official launch in December. The first phase is expected to be completed by summer 2027.

Security Presence: Turkey has also strengthened security ties with Somalia, maintaining instructors in Mogadishu since 2017, operating beyond the capital, and establishing reported outposts to help secure the spaceport site. It also runs one of its major overseas military bases, TURKSOM.
🪖Military Equipment Supplied: Turkey has provided Somalia with F-16 fighter jets, M48 and M60 tanks, armored vehicles, and air defense systems.
