The connectivity driving the economy also enables deepfakes that exploit societal trust, ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera said at the 2026 Inter-Regional CyberDrill for Africa and Arab States Regions in Victoria Falls.
To combat this, the Zimbabwean ministry plans to:

🟠launch cyber hygiene and deepfake literacy campaigns for SMEs;
🟠train 10,000 cybersecurity professionals.
The event, taking place from Wednesday to Friday, aims to strengthen digital security and coordination across Africa and Arab states.
