Tanzania Targets 60% Domestic Medicine Production by 2030, Says President
Samia Suluhu Hassan has directed the Ministry of Health to aggressively attract investors for local pharmaceutical manufacturing, stressing that there is "no time to relax."
To lead the effort, the president tasked the newly appointed Permanent Secretary Grace Magembe with implementing this strategy to
🟠reduce foreign import reliance;
🟠ease exchange pressure;
🟠improve healthcare access under the nation's new five-year development plan.
President Hassan also reminded Magembe to ensure prudent budget management to efficiently utilize limited resources for timely results.
Her office, she affirmed, will provide both support and close oversight to ensure these goals are achieved.
