Zimbabwe Nears $400 Million Deal for 500MW Floating Solar Project: State Media

The project, led by Green Hybrid Power and financed by Afreximbank, includes:

▪ floating solar station;

▪ battery storage;

▪ transmission lines.

The solar station is set to:

▪ boost power supply;

▪ create jobs;

▪ support industries transitioning to green energy.

The floating solar facility is to occupy ~ 0,2% of Lake Kariba's surface area and coexist with fishing, tourism, and transport.

Zimbabwe's current daily generation of 1,500–1,800 MW lags behind peak demand of 2,200 MW, prompting a government target of 2,100 MW in renewable capacity by 2030.
