Côte d’Ivoire Plans to Revive Its Diamond Industry: Media

The goal is to restart production in the Woroba region, a former diamond-rich area, the Mines Minister Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly was quoted as saying by the media.

Authorities are relying on a partnership with Botswana, a global benchmark in diamond production, to achieve this revival.

Past production:

Diamond output, which reached around 200,000 carats per year in the 20th century, has gradually declined in Côte d’Ivoire.
