Shared Interests Unite AES and ECOWAS, Nigerien Expert Says
A strategic workshop in Ouagadougou from Tuesday to Thursday gathered experts, diplomats, and officials from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to draft a framework guiding relations between the AES and ECOWAS.
"This will allow us to see how we can move forward together without being enemies. Because we are, in any case, brothers committed to staying together," sociopolitical and economic analyst Adamou Oumarou told Sputnik Africa.
According to him, the key issues of common interest are:
▪ combating terrorism;
▪ security;
▪ free movement of people and goods.
The AES aims to create "a peaceful space, an integrated space, a space sustainably rooted in the future that will allow the children of these two spaces to be models for the African continent," Oumarou noted.
