Russia builds Arctic gas tanker fleet for year-round shipping

The second Russian-built liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker Konstantin Posyet entered service on June 18 following its naming ceremony in Primorsky Krai.

It follows the first vessel, Alexey Kosygin, delivered in December 2025.

More ships are under construction as part of the Arctic LNG 2 project at the Zvezda shipyard.

The fleet is intended to strengthen Russian Arctic logistics – and marks the transition to serial production of a new generation of ice-breaking cargo ships.
